At Montgomery Area Psychiatric Services, we have an experienced team of clinicians from several disciplines including psychiatry, social work and counseling. We will assist you in finding the “right fit” and will take the time to help you determine whether you need medication management, therapy, or both.

Clinical Staff

Babatunde Abolade MD MRCP (UK)
Dr. Abolade made the decision to form MAPS after practicing psychiatry at Alabama Psychiatric Services for 11 years. Dr. Abolade has extensive training and experience in both Psychiatry and Internal Medicine. He is Board Certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Abolade is a member of the Royal Colleges of Physicians in the United Kingdom. Dr. Abolade completed his residency in General Psychiatry and fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Wayne State School of Medicine in Detroit. He has experience in the management of all of the commonly seen childhood psychological and behavioral disorders as well as equivalent problems specific to Adolescents and Adults. His skills include, but are not limited to, medication management, supportive therapy, and crisis intervention.

Candace Bailey, LPC

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), with an Education Specialist degree in Clinical Mental Health and a Master's degree in Counseling and Psychology, who helps my clients break through mental obstacles that seem to be holding them back in life. I am also a National Certified Counselor (the high national standard for counseling) and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (the high national standard in working with people with disabilities).

David Bond, LCSW, PIP, ACSW, BCD
David Bond is a Licensed Certified Social Worker who has practiced clinical social work since 1979. He received his LCSW in 1982. He became a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers in 1984. He was certified for the Private Independent Practice of Clinical Social Work and Social Case Work in Alabama in 1985. He became a Board Certified Diplomate with the American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work Clinical Social Work in 1990. He was designated a Diplomate by the National Association of Social Workers in1991. David has been a Clinical Member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy since 1984. His primary interests are marital therapy, complicated family situations, personality disorders, mood disorders and individuals pursuing spiritual growth.

Heather Angel Leonard, Ed.D, NCC, LPC
H. Angel Leonard is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of experience gained from work in private practice with children, adolescents, adults and families in the public school sector, therapeutic foster care, the Department of Human Resources, the Department of Youth Services, and various substance abuse organizations. Angel holds an earned doctorate degree in Educational, Leadership, Policy and Law, and a Master’s degree from Alabama State University. She also has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Sharon Bridges, MS, LPC, NCC
Sharon Bridges is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years in the counseling field. She graduated from Troy State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation and a Minor in Psychology.  Sharon received a Master’s of Science degree in Agency Counseling from Troy University Montgomery in 2000.  Sharon has specific training as an Employee Assistance Professional where she provides short term counseling and critical incident stress management to employees and family members of local client companies. Sharon also has extensive experience with at-risk youth where she provided group, individual and family counseling to adolescents and their families for 12 years.

Sharon has experience where she provided counseling to individuals with disabilities who strived to achieve their personal, career and independent living goals. Sharon’s experience also includes counseling at-risk youth, teens and pre-teens, counseling families, couples, work/life balance as well as stress management and workplace violence trainings for employers and employees.  Sharon’s clinical interests include assisting individuals with anxiety, depression, behavioral modification, relationship concerns, stress management and adolescent issues.
